About Me

MBF

I’m a moody cook….but not in a banging pots and pans, or a crying over a fallen soufflé kind of way.  I’m a moody cook because I cook only when I am in the mood to (which is often) and I only cook what I am in the mood to cook (which varies).

I guess that is one of the pros to being at the “empty nester” stage. Long gone are the days when I had to figure out how to put together a meal that 4 little picky eaters (and 2 food-lovin’ adults) could all sit down and enjoy together.  For the record, they all grew up to be food-lovin’ young people….  So have heart if you are reading this while worrying about your little cutie who won’t touch meat with marks on it, eats only orange things, or throws a fit when you cut up his Eggo’s “wrong“!

Most of these recipes come from my considerable collection of cookbooks, but some are my own, and some are inspired by all of the talented cooks and photographers out there doing just what I am trying to do….share a love of cooking, and feeding our friends and families.  Please enjoy!  And keep sharing recipes and ideas…I am always on the hunt for The Right Recipe!

Hi, you don’t have a comment section on your Stone Ground Grits N Cheese Casserole, and the ingredients don’t list butter, but the directions do, and the ingredients list garlic, but the directions don’t. I winged it, added a couple tbsp butter and added the garlic in with the milk/eggs, but you might want to update that for future users! Thanks.

Hey, Margaret! Just by chance I learned that you had a cooking blog so I decided to check it out! It is just beautiful – both the recipes and the photography – what a perfect pairing of your interests and talents. If I ever get the urge to cook (unlikely), I will certainly use one of the recipes you have published here even though I already know that my finished product probably won’t look the way they do in your gorgeous photographs. Hope all is well with your family,

    Sally

Thank you so much for recently stopping by my blog. After looking at yours, it seems like we have a lot in common. We are almost empty nesters, and I am always looking for the right recipe as well. I also tend to approach cooking with what I am in the mood for. I’m very glad I found your site and look forward to future posts.

Hello, Raised my family, lived alone after divorce (no need to cook it was just me), now remarried — ooh, the ex-wife was a great chef! Yikes. I am not. Starting over now and you have some delicious recipes I intend to try right away. Thanks for being the first blog I will actually follow…..

I just mentioned you in a post on my blog. I was inspired by your Hummus All Dressed Up and your Roasted Beet Hearts. I heard about your blog from the girls at Wildflower.

Love your Blog! I came across it in my reader, because you had “Liked” a recipe I was reading and I decided to click on your great picture. Reading your “About…” I immediately drew several comparisons, empty nester, three picky eaters, all of whom have grown up to be good cooks and love food, but oh boy do I remember the stripes on the meat day!
You might enjoy my blog too, just incase, you will see it below.
I look forward to enjoying your blog and i have already set eyes on lots of delicious recipes!
Thank you and all the best.
